Re-opening of Macctrack (Macclesfield and District Radio Control Model Car Club)

12/02/2008

We are now nearing completion and hope to reopen towards the end of Feb/early March due to a few old club members lending a hand and getting the work done.

I have now taken some up to date photo's and I'm sure you can see from the pictures that the club certainly has a lot of prospect, all we are left to complete now is the floor which we expect to have in by the end of this week. Once in, we will merely have to tend to the minor cosmetics and then lay the track, which we expect to be the most time consuming part.

The club is located in the heart of Macclesfied on Heapy Street in a building called "The Arsenal", part of Sutton Garrison. The club has excellent parking facilities behind and access to the first floor, where we race, is either up the staircase or via a lift.

Inside the club we have clean toilets, simple catering facilities, including a kettle for anyone who would like a hot drink. We have pitting area enough to cater for at least 60 drivers comfortably and each pit table has access to varios mains plugs for those that require.

We are hoping to run regular race meetings on Tuesday and Friday evening from approximately 7pm and a Sunday meet from 12 to 1pm. We will be running 10th scale touring cars, 12th scale pan cars, 14th scale tourers and 18th scale micro, to include tourers, buggies and truggies. We will only be able to cater for electric due to the venue being indoors.

Nearby to the venue we have sandwich shops and newsagents and a large supermarket a couple of minutes down the road for anyone who wants snacks or drinks, although we will be catering for basics available from the club itself.

Should anyone like anymore information on the club then they can gladly contact me via my email - nbrooksy@yahoo.co.uk and I can happily provide directions and more up to date information on club meetings.

The club will also be available by arrangement out of club hours for people if they wish to use the track, especially for teams who need time to practice and to set up their team cars.

Please feel free to contact me, and hopefully we'll look forward to seeing new and old faces down there very soon.
