BRCA Nationals Rnd 3 - Brookland

DSCF1669.jpg (72349 bytes)  Brookland hosted the first ever Superpole, with a 2 second handicap for Superbike and one second for Supersport it meant even the Stocks were in with a shout. Steve Newey won with a very clean lap with his KP07 Supersport, the in field kick used by the cars causing problems for most drivers and levelling the field, as everyone had been practising on the full course. Simon Lancaster had put up the prize, a Team Suzuki Jacket Rucksack, which raised the stakes a bit, and Superpole looks to be a regular feature of Saturday Practise from now on.
Steve went on to win both legs of Superstock, remarkable considering he was running the meetiung as well, spending more time in the office than the pits!

NO5A2328.jpg (43023 bytes)Dave Richards stamped his authority on Stock yet again using his McLarney Daytona to good effect with two fine wins, ahead of the fast improving Scott Adderson and Rookie Michael Laing.

NO5A2320.jpg (43920 bytes) NO5A2289.jpg (49268 bytes)Dave Andrews handed over the KP Nitro that won Halifax to James Crunden who went on to win the Nitro A Final, keeping it clean for a whole 15 minutes to stay ahead of Pole man John Veal and his "Superblade", Nitro Neville Smith coming third with the other KP Nitro.

NO5A2406.jpg (62009 bytes) NO5A2414.jpg (84329 bytes)While Phil Tennant piloted his McLareny Daytona superbly to set the fastest lap, Dave Andrew and his new Counter rotating KP09-E chassis won the Superbike finals by pipping a ballistic McLarney Daytona of Jevon Frost and his McLarney in the first one and holding off a hard charging Colin McCabe wit ha similar KP09-E in the second leg.

DSCF1637.jpg (120782 bytes) NO5A1866.jpg (105212 bytes)Several Rookies made their first track appearance, including Chris Groom who walked off with the GRP Concours prize for his Yamaha inspired design adorning his lovingly prepared McLarney chassis, chosen by guest judge Allan Greenfield from Weston UK.

BRCA Nationals Rnd 2 - Halifax
Day of the Daves!
Despite the whole of race day remaining cool yet dry and sunny, no lap or race records were broken, though of course a new set of records were established for the recently introduced Supersport class.

GRP sponsored the Concourse, thanks to Mirage, and a set of the new GRP Bike tyres went to the Red Bull Ducati bodywork adorning the KP07 of Peter Chang, a superbly detailed job indeed, congrats Peter!

Dave Richards stamped his authority on the Stock class, taking pole and both leg wins in style.

Dave Andrews gave the new KP09N-2 Nitro its maiden victory by winning the A Final ahead of a trio of Superblades now that John Veal has joined the Waterfall team.

hal-6.jpg (113571 bytes)
Graham Clarke had a development chassis on show, putting in a good performance, with an extra layshaft to mount the motor up front.
Dave Scouse took the honours in SuperSport, winning both legs by a good margin, despite Chris Douglas taking pole in a four way scrap at the top.

hal-2.jpg (108620 bytes)

Dave Andrew and Colin McCabe took a win each in Superbike, and fought over every corner. the split decision went to Colin for the faster win time, though the combined race times meant David looked like he had it, it was that close they had to be split by a ruling by race control!

Next round is Brookland, sure to be another close, hard fought battle with a few of the locals joining in to split up the regulars.

SuperSport class rule change - 13.5 T B/l & BRCA 27 T eligible
Due to the wet weather concerns of the brushless contingent, we the committee have had a conversation and thought long and hard about the following decision so I hope you all bear with us and realise it's all for the good of the sport.

To help those with waterproof brushed gear and not waterproof brushless, the BRCA 27T motor list is now eligible for the SuperSport class also, still running 2S Lipo or 6 cell NiMh/NiCd

The thinking is that only in wet conditions would you consider using a 27T BRCA Motor simply for waterproof reasons, as you would be at too much of a disadvantage to want to run a brushed motor in this class in the dry, so it shouldn't present a problem, and will permit people to change gear for wet weather, or if their brushless gear lets them down,

Hopefully that should put a few minds to rest and we can look forward to good old fashioned fun and games, regardless of the weather, the way bike racing should be!

Hereby say us, below. We'll see how it works out and discuss it at next years BRCA AGM.

2008 Nationals Rnd1 - Skipton.
Skipton-08.jpg (351659 bytes)

With mixed but generally cold and dry conditions the season kicked off in fine style.

The Nitro class saw a healthy entry with a new hand made "Super Blade 2" of Alan Waterfall taking the A Final win over his similarly equipped son Shaun,   when Shaun flamed out with just minutes to go whilst comfortably leading the 15 minute A Final. Pole position man Colin McCabe with the much improved FS-21 of Ken Dineen was looking all dominant until clutch failure saw him sidelined, which meant Ken Gospel got his first National Nitro podium in third.

Winner of the GRP sponsored Concourse competition was Rookie Michael Laing running a McLarney chassis and tidily hand paint Lavilla Ducati, he also got between some of the top regulars in the section to lead the first Stock A final until the final moments, coming in second in both finals to take the lead in the 2008 Rookie championship. Dave Richards took the Stock A Finals by a whisker, and Dave Hall came in third, to complete the Rookie Sandwich!

The new Supersport class attracted a good entry, while Stock and Superbike still retained a class field despite some fears the new Brushless and Lipo stock equivalent Supersport might deplete both fields. Dave Scouse took pole and the win in both legs of the A Final by holding off similarly equipped Chris Douglas and Graham Clarke, all running Novak 13.5 Pro motors which were the class of the field.

Dave Andrews and Colin McCabe put on a real show in the Superbike A Final, thrilling the spectators with side by side action throughout, Dave finally getting the verdict after a late tumble by Colin, who earlier in the day had proved just how fast you can push a Superbike even after the scratch bars have fallen out!

Bike Rules Updated - SUPERSPORT GET LIPO !

Hi Guys, we never had chance to discuss the new SuperSPORT class in depth at the AGM and a lot of people think we missed an opportunity to make the new 27T Brushless Supersport class a LIPO applicable class. So we took it on board, had a discussion among the 6 members of the BRCA Bike Section committee and it was an overwhelming yes from all concerned, so the new rule stands that Lipo, NiCd and NiMh are allowed in SuperSPORT 27T Brushless class.

Just to reiterate, it's any brushless motor that the manufacturer declares as a 27T equivalent regardless what spec they say it is, 13.5 turn or 15T or whatever, they all rate them differently but are trying to come up with a level playing field for the good of all concerned, hence are trying hard to get them all as near to a brushed 27T motor as possible. And ANY speed controller. But we suggest you try and find a waterproof model!

Welcome to the new season, get out there and get practising!

DSCF1901.jpg (175699 bytes) DSCF1891.jpg (100041 bytes)

The final round at Aldershot saw a shoot out for the super bikes, between Colin McCabe, Dave Andrew and James Crunden go all the way to the wire. graham Clarke had the Stock title in the bag, as Did Colin in the Nitro bikes, but the racing action was hot none the less.

DSCF1861.jpg (162756 bytes)DSCF1863.jpg (199243 bytes)DSCF1864.jpg (164043 bytes)First Pole position for Gerald Paige in stock made him smile, likewise Chris Douglas who won the Formby Models "Weston Tyre Bonding kit" Concourse prize with his Xerox Ducati, and then Gave a Graham a run for his money in the A final, but Graham came from last on the A final grid to take the win by a whisker at the flag. Which made everyone smile. Good race fellas.

DSCF1941.jpg (156422 bytes)DSCF1943 copy.jpg (204090 bytes)The Nitro class was a run away victory for Colin and his all dominant FS-2 which Ken Dineen had rebuilt after it thrashing at the world championships. New to the class was Dave Timms who had been dragged in by Nitro Nev, only to get out qualified by him! Nev returned the favour by pipping him to second in the A final, but I think we have a convert on our hands!

DSCF1879.jpg (157905 bytes) DSCF1931.jpg (183153 bytes) DSCF1927.jpg (133206 bytes) In Superbike Colin took a stunning Pole, which left Dave a lot of work to do in the A final, but All Jimbos had to do was finish third behind Colin Second and Dave took the win to do all he could with the McLarney Daytona, but it was the KP07s of James that took the Championship title, by a single point!!

DSCF1856.jpg (109984 bytes)DSCF1866.jpg (175672 bytes)We had a Tissot Prizes Raffle organised by Pete "Mad" Gray which made everyone's day with some excellent goodies for the lucky ten pilots drawn from the hat, and the weather stayed dry so the nitro soaked track was in top condition, though still slippy underfoot for some of the marshals!

In Progress

BRCA Rnd 5 Halifax

A good start to the weekend was an abrupt change in the forecast giving Halifax dry warm sunny weather which was a welcome change from the endless wet weekends we’ve been having lately. Saturday afternoon practice was busy with an almost constant stream of bikes in and out of the pits, trying for the ultimate dry set up.
DSC_5221.jpg (70794 bytes)   DSC_5447.jpg (86985 bytes)  DSC_5613.jpg (79042 bytes) DSC_5620.jpg (172491 bytes)

NITRO
DSCF5760.jpg (137105 bytes)Sunday’s first qualifying round produced some very fast laps, with Colin McCabe breaking the existing nitro lap record even though parts of the track were still a little damp from an overnight shower. Round 2 saw another win and new lap and race record for Colin in nitro with the FS-1, but the lap record wasn’t to last long as Dave Andrew decided to have a play in this class. Round 3 saw Dave Andrew, running John’s old 2 stroke NF, smashing the lap record by 0.8 seconds! At this point John wanted his old bike back but Dave was having none of it! John thought he was doing ok with the FS-2 with a race time better than the old record, but couldn’t quite keep up with the talent in this field. Round 4 and Colin almost equalled his fastest qualifying time, but had no need to improve it as he was already on pole for the final. http://www.northern-radio-moto-club.co.uk/videos/hfxnitrord5.wmv

SUPERSTOCK
DSC_5287.jpg (104050 bytes)It was good to see 2 new pilots in this class, both Carl lister and Peter Watt improved throughout the day and showed it’s possible to jump in at the deep end and still have a good day. But it was Dave Scouse again at the top, the only rider on 16 laps in rounds 1,2 &3 and close to the race record, but he was getting close company with a plethora of riders on 15 laps and baying for the top spot . Dave continued to improve and by round 3 had collected the new race record and Pole position for the final. After a mediocre start, Graham Clarke put in his best time of the day in round 4 to secure 3rd place on the grid and Steve Newey’s 3 race wins and third round best time was good enough for the no.2 spot.
DSC_5567.JPG (81801 bytes) DSCF5759.jpg (148775 bytes)

SUPERBIKE
DSCF5761.jpg (155246 bytes)The fastest class of them all. Wheelies, powerslides and stunning straight line speeds. All seen and performed here today by all of the top pilots. And more records smashed! James Crunden’s 2nd round time broke the existing race record by 0.4 seconds in heat 4 and in heat 5 Dave Andrew went one better knocking another 0.4 seconds off that. First James, then Dave set new lap records as well! Colin McCabe was not hanging around either, only a fraction off the best time. Only Dave, James and Colin managed 17 laps in qualifying and that’s how the order stayed for the finals
DSCF5767.jpg (123900 bytes)

CONCOURSE
DSCF5755.jpg (144802 bytes)Last round’s concourse winner Dave Andrew was the judge this time round and he eventually settled for Allan Watkinsons Pramac Ducati. Allan received his prize of a Weston UK tyre bonding kit from Formby Models Steve Newey.

FINALS
The nitro final always starts first and all bikes were set off on the back straight with no problems. Colin’s consistent lap times helped him lead from start to finish, but it was 2-stroking Dave that was on a mission to catch Colin before the chequered flag, The FS-2 got the win this time, but the lap times show that there’s really nothing in it. John came home 3rd on the same lap with Allan Waterfall and Ken Gospel following. Nitro at Halifax video.

In the Superstock B final, pole man Steven Croston took the well deserved win after battling with Tony Hill and it was new pilots Carl Lister taking 2nd with Peter Watt 3rd.

Superstock A:
Dave led from pole after a good start, but a small mistake from Steve allowed 3rd place man Graham to sneak past and chase after Dave with Gerald hot on Graham’s heels. Lap 4 and Dave ran off a kerb, letting Graham through. From then on it was close racing with the lead changing hands several times until lap 9 when Graham pulled away and stayed in front to take the win. But it was Dave Richards who was the man on a mission, progressing from a 6th place start to take 2nd in the end, with Gerald Page moving up 2 slots to take 3rd, just ahead of a recovering Dave Scouse. Superstock A Final video.

Superbike A:
Dave lead from the start but by the second lap was caught by James. After the ensuing fairing bashing slowing them down, Colin sneaked through with James in hot pursuit and Dez Chand following in 3rd. Dave backed out of the tussle for the lead with braking problems leaving Colin and James fighting for the lead right to the end, with some of the closest racing ever seen at Halifax, James getting the win at the end, Colin 2nd and Jamie 3rd, after clawing his way up the field from 5th position at the start and Dave crossing the line just 2 seconds later. Superbike A Final video.

Superb racing in all classes, providing the many spectators with something as close as possible to the real thing. Take a look at some great photos from Dez’s gallery here.

Many thanks to the Halifax club for providing a superb venue and facilities, race control was perfect and run as smoothly as ever.

BRCA Rnd 4 Mendip

The forecast was appalling, but a healthy crowd descended on Mendip for Saturday practice day, where conditions left everyone amazed at the lack of grid.

mendip3.jpg (105465 bytes)At drivers briefing they announced the UK smoking ban in public places and as such the pits and paddock were now a no smoking area which raised a huge cheer from all present. The rash of new faces in the pits helped swell the ranks of the two wheelers yet again, very encouraging to see in spite of the poor weather forecast and the distance some had travelled to be here. Fortunately for Qualifying we had a dry track as the sunshine was powerful enough to blast away any damp patches in minutes.

On track first were the Nitro bikes where Colin McCabe popped in the only 11 lapper of the day with best lap of just 35.3 secs on the full circuit, not record pace but considering the conditions still a great performance. Allan Waterfall put his ageing Bergonzoni into second spot ahead of the Thundertigers of Ken Gospel and Neville Smith as the two strokes made a come back against the four bangers. John Veal could only hold off Richard Blissett to Salvage 5th place although his best lap of just 36 secs showed the performance of his FS2, if he could just supply the consistency he’d be in there.

Superstock saw Graham Clarke championship leader hanging onto a slender lead over Dave Scouse , Chris Douglas and Steve Newey , with Gerald Page and Tony Cooper who also put in 12 lap runs.

mendip1.jpg (113003 bytes)In Superbikes we saw James Crunden put in a fast run despite a couple of crashes, as his short wheel base KP07 Black Shadow found grip where others struggled and his best lap of 31.8 was just half a second off the outright lap record! Dave Andrew and Dez Chand put in fractionally slower times intent on doing a clean round and just fell short of Jimbos top spot by a second over the 7 minutes.

mendip2.jpg (132809 bytes)That was the only dry round and the rain fell so hard at times that despite two sweep off and pump out sessions the meeting was cancelled by a tremendous downpour just as the finals were about to start, taking just minutes to refill all the puddles we’d worked taken hours to remove.

mendip5.jpg (104942 bytes)

mendip4.jpg (167870 bytes) In the lunch break the track was drying rapidly and concourse was judged by round 3 winner Scott “Bazza” Adderton. He fell for the James Toseland replica which Dave Andrew had commissioned from Tels Shells, a fair representation of the WSB championship leaders Hanspree Honda. Steve Newey presented the Formby models prize of a Weston UK tyre bonding kit to the smiling Dave once we persuaded him to extinguish his cigarette and return to the paddock!

Halifax for Round 4 at the end of the month has got to be better weather, it couldn't be worse !

BRCA Rnd 3 Tibshelf TT

With sweltering weather and an even bigger grid, the bikers took Tibshelf by storm for round 3 of the BRCA Nationals.

The Moto GP in Mugello had seen wet qualifying, the F1 TT had been rained off but the Two Wheelers were to enjoy perfect conditions at Tibshelf all weekend and revelled in every second.

Concourse was a walk over for the Barry Sheene replica of Superstock rookie Scott Adderson utilising the latest  "Nitro Nev" Suzuki body set , simply the best!

tibby2.jpg (116790 bytes)All three classes saw the race record fall. Graham Clarke took Superstock, Pole, A Final and Race Record, though he had some serious company this weekend.

Tibby1.jpg (93332 bytes)Dave Scouse was on a mission and took the outright lap record in the final, before his aerial tube was ripped out as he tagged a back marker whilst leading, interference dropping him back from what looked like a famous first A final win. He'll be back !! Chris Douglas re-emerged to give the class a good shake up, and helped push the limits and track records throughout the day, his battles with Graham and Dave were just a joy to behold.

In Superbike it was Dave Andrew with a dominant display, as he took Pole, the A final win and set a new race record in round 3, just falling short of beating the lap record in the process.

In Nitro Bike it was that man Colin McCabe and his four stroke FS1 Dineen Machine that smashed the race record in Round 2 and set pole position, narrowly missing out on a new lap record in round 2. The A final went to fellow FS pilot John Veal, narrowly holding off top two stroke of Allan Waterfall with a late come back to snatch victory from the local smoker who was seen pulling power wheelies half way along the main straights throughout the day!

Congrats to all, especially the new faces that came to learn what the track has to offer, improving round after round as their confidence grew. Hopefully they'll be back for more, having shared the knowledge and experience of all the regulars.

UK Bike Fest 2007 - Donington Park Demo
Well done to everyone that made the effort, great fun and a good demonstration for the RC bikers, the Oohs and Arghs from the crowd made it all worth while.
Ron Haslam got his hands on a Nuova Faor Valentino Rossi relipca Nitro bike amongst others The Nitros and Superbikes were definitely the crowds favourites, the noise and smoke of the two and four strokes, the power slides and wheelies (and spectacular crashes) of the Superbikes. The "Silver Dream Machines" Silver Can class was tested in a bunch of demo bikes and found to offer close fun racing, we had a scream but I don't think it held the crowds attention as much as it did ours. The Stockers had the best turn out and biggest grids, with some good action all around the track, and drifting on the brakes into the hairpins raised a lot of smiles !!
We had real bike racers like John Reynolds, the Ducati and Suzuki crews watching most of the day, plus Chris Walker came over and signed the photos of Jako's Suzi in action, as did his team mate, Cal Crutchlow, great guys.

Ron Haslam came by a few times, loving every minute of it, talked him into having a go, didn't take much persuading, but was harder to wrestle the transmitter from his hands, only giving up when all three bikes he used were flat, my NF Nitro bike proved too tricky as a learner, so Anthony Barrass donated his stocker and that worked the charm from there he progressed top Colin's Superbike and then onto a silver can machine. On the rostrum for the best part of an hour getting ace instruction from Colin and others until he's go the hang of it. Now we know what's on Ron's Christmas List !!

Kris Kennedy helps Chris Walker sign an action photo of Jakos Bugliones Rizla Suzuki replica Thanks to Kris Kennedy for the ace commentary, kept everyone amused and he even got chance to talk to the whole of Donington Park over the organisers mic and tell the two wheeled world about the RC bikers.

Cheers to Mike Chilvers for waving the BRCA flag all day and handing out fliers and info, top job.
Many thanks to Nigel from HSS for the safety barriers and Scaffolding Rostrum, at a great discount, cheers to the BRCA for supporting the demo so well, much appreciated.
Biggest thanks to Glyn Morgan from Frankley Rally Cross club for organising, loading, renting and buying all the hosing we needed to lay the track out, then delivering and collecting to Donington Park, we simply couldn't have done it without you, cheers mate!

A great day, thanks to all that made it happen and turned out to support it. I know it's hard on body and bikes so it's all very much appreciated.
We have had interest from several more bike shows that wants us to run demo races, including the Donington Moto GP, more info on that to come.

Thanks to Rob Last and Giles Butcher of Future Publishing Limited who saw us in action at the Alexandra Palace Superbike show, for the invitation to demonstrate at Donington Park at such a big event. A marvellous opportunity we just couldn't miss.

BRCA Bike Section Swells at Round 2 Brookland.

Thanks to everyone that made a great meeting and welcomed all the new faces into the section, always good to see fresh faces young and old! The numbers are growing round by round which is always a good sign, keep spreading the word chaps! Also nice to see some Rookies giving the regulars something to worry about !!

The weekend was dry but breezy, cool and mostly overcast. The grip was down a little but thanks to the latest technical developments in chassis and tyres, all race and lap records were broken, apart from the Superstock lap record, but that was shaved real close wasn't it Graham !! Well Done to Shane and his team for preparing the Brookland track, it looked awesome and to Steve Newey for manning race control again to save the day, sorry it affected your race results so badly, but it was very much appreciated by all.

Concourse was won by Rookie Peter Chang, as chosen by round 1 winner Matt Timms. A lovely Yamaha tribute shell on his NF hybrid at his very first big race meeting after a couple of club meetings at his local Aldershot track. Well done to all three pole positions who converted them into wins by very slim margins, typically 2 seconds covering the top three finishers in all finals. Exiting stuff both for the paddock crowd and the fence lined with spectators from the adjacent football festival.

The A Final winners were:- Colin McCabe in Nitro Bike (FS-1 Four Stroke), Graham Clarke in Superstock (KP07) and James Crunden in Superbike (KP07)

All Heat and Finals Results, more Photos and even a bit of Video can be found here with full report coming in RRCi soon.

On Line Booking is live !!
 Fingers ready??

NOTE 1 :- Late rule change, the system has been modified to allow multi-class entries on the day, so now you CAN run nitro and supertstock etc if you want to, but you'll need separate accounts, which you can set up from a single email account, just do it so you can track it i.e. set up one account called Bob-SB and another Bob-STK and another Bob-NTR to aid entry tracking and enable the system to reimburse you the £5 discount on second/third entries at each round.

NOTE 2:- ALL entries MUST be pre-book and pre-paid, there is NO BOOKING IN ON THE DAY! If you really can't book in on line, have no email address etc etc, so long as you have a credit/debit card an account can be set up for you and your entries confirmed before each meeting by Mike Smith at Modeltech 01933 225 417, it simply takes a phone call with your details. Thanks Mike.

Superbike Magazine Road Race Show - Alexandra Palace
A small selection of pics from the event are here. http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m...erbike%20Show/

The RC bikers put on a great show over the three days, fully supported by the Superbike Mag crew that invited us along and gave us all the help and space they could spare whilst organising a massive road race show indoors which can't have been easy!

Over the course of the three days we spoke to literally thousands of people from all walks of life but sharing the same passion for two wheelers of all descriptions and for many the RC Bike Racing demo was the highlight of the show, something they'd never seen or even contemplated before.

We rounded off the event with two solid hours of 5 lap sprints with full commentary that got everyone revved up. Every time a bike crashed, wobbled weaved, wheelied or ploughed straight through a barrier the response was always audible, and usually spurred the guys on to do it again, and again.

Several changes of lead per lap is what makes the bike racing such a spectacle, and having a mix of Superstock, Superbike and Nitro bikes on track kept it

We had the pleasure of the likes of Leon Haslam, Michael Rutter and James Toesland who came into the arena and were granted permission to have a go, and to our amazement they gave us a real run for their money, before confessing they had done this before and loved every minute of thrashing my TT ,18 Nitro and NF .12 Rossi replicas around for a couple of tanks each. To get my own back I rolled out the jump ramps and had them and their ladies, pit crew and volunteers lay down and jumped them with the E Savage Quad to a round of applause from the crowd. All great fun and good sports!

The contacts made will see us potentially doing 5 more demo shows this year, including the NEC Bike Show !

Autosports Show - Alexandra Palace Superbike Show.
The NEC Autosports show went well with loads of interest from mainly car drivers, so next weekends Superbike Show, 26/27/28th Jan at the Ally Pally in London should be a mega opportunity to show two wheel fans the joys of RC bikers. See you there!

Tibshelf GP

The first annual Tibshelf GP was a huge success, with great racing, brilliant atmosphere and generous sponsors producing an enormous raffle that kept everyone glued despite the early morning drizzle.

What a stunner! Lap and race records broken in the best bike meeting Tibshelf has ever seen. Early morning rain produced some fun, but once the track dried the lap times came tumbling down. Stock was it's usual close affair, with some new drivers getting quickly on the pace and challenging the established runners, but Graham Clarke was the man to beat, putting in some faultless quick laps and excellent driving to take the race record and A final win. Superbike was as peculiar as ever, lots of different battery / motor combos and different bikes including 3 of Patrick Alleven's V3s driven by Colin, Shane and John. But the A final winner was Dave Andrew with a modified motor and no front brake! The Nitro class was dominated by Colin McCabe with Ken Dineen's fantastic and well set up 4 stroke, taking the race and lap records, but the gap was a little less than at Mendip with Dez and John in hot pursuit for most of the day. Col was having problems in the A-final leaving Dez and John to battle for the lead, John made a mistake at the hairpin leaving Dez to complete a perfect and well deserved race win by just 1 second at the flag as John closed him down on the last lap. Overall it was a great day for all who came, the raffle made sure no-one went home empty handed, some even with nitro bikes!

Ben Racing the major Event Sponsor with Allan at the shop. A good crowd in great spirit at the GP

So it looks like we may have 3 more entries for the Nitro class soon! So, many thanks to the sponsors, Ben Racing, Aurorra Ltd, Formby Models, Ted Longshaw, Real RC, RRCi, Tornado Racing and Mtroniks., More details and pics etc are listed here. Huge thanks must go to the Tibshelf club and committee, particularly Allan Waterfall, who has put a great deal of time and effort into this event and all the drivers for attending.

Jimbo Crunden cuts good lines in the mnorning rain. Allan Waterfall but on a gooid show in Nitro Dez's Winning NF Nitro 506 got the win on a plate.

Congrats to the Tibshelf Club and Allan Waterfall for organising such a great event. See you next year !

These 1/5th models are raced on large scale permanent outdoor tarmac tracks and provide something a little different from the usual car racing. They look fantastic on the track, with extreme lean angles, powerslides and wheelies. Weighing in around 2Kg and reaching speeds in excess of 70 kph they offer an amazing spectacle in any weather, wet or dry you will see them battling for every inch of tarmac.

Piloting a 1/5th bike is an acquired skill, as is setting one up to be on the pace of the leaders, but that is the main attraction. Many RC Bikers are real bikers, some are even Ex-Racers still looking for the ultimate thrill but with that extra safety factor !!

Superbike allows virtually unlimited modifications with only a scale appearance, 7.4V power source limit and the laws of Physics holding them back, real mean machines that are a challenge to tame. Most pilots run insane winds of brushed and brushless motors, Quality Nimh or Lipo power packs, but the right set up and ultimate control are still paramount to success in this class. This is where you'll see insane wheelies even at the end of a 7 minute final !!

Superstock is a BRCA motor regulated class for rebuildable 27 turn stock motors (but with ball bearings allowable), 6 cell Nimh and a 1.9Kg limit to create a level playing field.
Someone with the right approach could take a box stock bike and win the A final, and that's the way they like it !
All mods are allowed apart from a front brake so some of the closest battles are fought in this class where the best pilot with the cleanest lines and the most efficient machinery will be the winning combination.

Nitro bikes are limited only by a .21 engine ceiling, apart from that the sky's the limit. Most bikes come with a sports .12 motor and even a .15 can be too fast for the majority of drivers. and anyone that can tame a .21 powered bike will be very talented indeed.
