Brushless Motors - 'Rule' change for 2007/8

A heads-up for all those thinking about using brushless motors for the Modified Class on Sundays, and the GP.

The 12th Committee will allow the use of any rotor in any EB-approved brushless motor for the 2007/8 BRCA National Series. At present, a proposal is with the EB to allow this change. If it is passed (probably mid-Sept) then it will apply through the EB in the usual course of business. If it is not passed, the 12th Committee will vary their Rules for the Open Class.

It is felt that the amount of work needed to make accurate checks on all motors is not in keeping with the spirit of our Nationals - we don't, as a rule, do any more than inspect things visually, and trust in our drivers to keep to the Rules. Similarly, 12th is a lot about people who like to experiment and learn about motors and their on-track peformance.

It isn't likely that someone will come up with a killer motor that will beat the usual top five simply on power. It is likely that if a good combination of rotor and motor is found, it will make it easier and cheaper for others to get into 12th. The 12th Committee think this is a win-win for the Section.

Mail any questions here that I haven't covered to your satisfaction, using the Pro contact address in this Section.
