INS Box Details |
|
Many of you will know that to race at Tibshelf this year we have to use an INS box . I have never used an INS box as I have never raced 1/8th or 235mm 1/10th, so apart from seeing cars with one fitted I have never actually had any experience with one. This week Section Chairman Bob Harley received stocks of the Mugen INS box we are offering to Racers and he sent me one for my Nova Rossi LL3 powered Mugen MTX4. First thing to note is that it does not come with filter oil, we were misinformed on that. On the right I have posted a few pictures to show the INS box being assembled, here it is fitted to the car.
The two holes you can see in the top cap run in tubes across the inside of the cap. The filter neck is offset (as you can see top right) so you can rotate the whole assembly to position it away from other obstructions, such as the main needle assembly and the chassis handle on my car. The whole assembly is a good distance clear of the Protoform Alfa 2.1 bodyshell currently on my car. There are some gaps around the rubber flange of the filter where it sits at the bottom of the cover to let water out in wet weather. Malcolm Norwood 1/10th IC On Road Section Vice Chairman |
