Thankfully the forecast of rain for the third round of the 1/8th series championship at Crystal Palace proved to be wrong and the fifty plus entry who turned up were treated to a warm sunny weekend for our first return to the Palace circuit for three years. Palace is a super high-speed circuit and on Saturday there was always a multitude of cars out on the circuit with drivers looking for an ideal setting. Sunday saw even more drivers present and that ensured that as usual qualifying was going to be fast and frantic. With all the drivers pushing hard there were more than a fair share of crashes and incidents, all helping to entertain the large crowd of spectators who were present around the circuit all day. To ensure a place in the open final you needed a 23 lapper, just below those drivers had made 23 we had at least fifteen other drivers on 22. Mark Green used his local track knowledge to be the only driver to make the magic 24 laps and sowed up pole position early. In the open Mark used his advantage of starting from the front to good effect and won the open with a flag to flag victory. The final result of the open being as follows: -
The lower finals were equally as keenly contested, and as has become the norm this year were very close. In the A final second to fourth drivers were on the same lap whilst in the B final the first three all finished on the same lap. Winners of the other finals were
