London to Brighton cycle ride

27/11/2006

Thanks to all the BRCA drivers that sponsored us for our epic 54-mile cycle from London to Brighton.  The BHF really appreciate it!

In perfect cycling conditions, Avo and I cycled our way majestically across the south of England.  Sweeping down country lanes, powering our way up hills and chewing up the miles, you could have been forgiven for thinking this was a scene from the Tour De France.

Well that’s the way we remember it. Some cynics may think it was more like two middle-aged men sweating, swearing and wobbling their way to Brighton.  Anyway we made it and have the medal to prove it!

As I'm sure you will appreciate the great work done by the BHF could be very relevant to gas car racers, as we struggle with our hobby/sport/obsession. We are looking for others who think they can handle our strict training regime to join us next year,

Here are a few pictures as a reminder us of our magnificent achievement.

First glimpse of Avo at the start and his Yellow bike. (must have had paint left over from the Euros)

Scott all keen to go, Avo looking back fondly at the car wondering if its not to late to pull a sickie

Avo looking exceptionally cool.  He was often mistaken for a member of the Californian beach patrol

Looking shocked just a few minutes later after being passed by an old lady on her bike with a basket on the front complete with baguette and poodle.

Finally the end. Avo proudly wearing his medal.

Training started in for next year pretty much the same as our training for this year
