At the 2005 AGM for the 1:8th I.C. circuit section a proposal was presented and accepted for a new race format for the 2006 season. In short the proposal was for a single sided bump up system were the top three drivers in each of the finals would be moved up to the next final.
The most significant impact of this would be the extended amount of time needed on race day to run the meeting. Based on our last years attendance figures this would require on average another one hour of running time on the Sunday with limited practice sessions.
Since the AGM the committee have been made aware by the race directors that due to the limited running time allowed at certain circuits (Tibshelf and Wombwell) it is not going to possible to run a meeting based on the new proposal without restricting entries at these venues.
It has also been pointed out to the committee by the race directors that based on the increased attendance last year and anticipated further increase this year there is also a real possibility of running out of time at other meetings and thereby jeopardising the running of the finals.

Proposal
The committee feel it would be counter productive to our section to restrict the number of entries and now fully understand the potential risk of running out of time at other venues. Based on this a proposal has been made by the committee to revert to the 2005 race format.
With the respect to the member that submitted the original proposal and the members that attended and voted on this item at the AGM, the committee believe that in light of the facts presented by the race director this proposal is in the best interests of the section and the drivers for the 2006 season.
An Extraordinary General Meeting has been called at 9 AM on the 26th of March at Mendip race circuit outside of race control when the proposal will be made to the members and if seconded a vote will be put to the drivers.
In order for your vote to count you do need to be present at the meeting and have your BRCA membership card.
If you cannot be present at this meeting and therefore cannot vote, your views are still important and we want to hear from you. You can send your comments to any of the committee be email, post or telephone before hand (contact details on www.brca.org and the handbook).
1) Allowing for 3 minutes warm up, and a five-minute heat, two minutes clearing the track and deploying marshals before the next heat starts it is estimated 10 minutes per heat if everything is working 100%.
2) Lunch
break of max one hour. Note: At Tibshelf and Wombwell the one hour enforced
quite period is not up to the race director so cannot be guaranteed to be used
to sort finals.
The following schedule highlights the amount of time we need to run a meeting in both the 2006 race format and the 2005 race format. At Tibshelf & Wombwell we have a race start of 10:00 AM and a cut off time of 6PM with a mandatory one-hour break, so we have a maximum of seven racing hours.
As you can see on the schedule we would have to reduce the number of entries at Tibshelf and Wombwell to 40 and cut all practice in order to run the new proposal. (Last year we had 56 at Wombwell and 48 at Tibshlef). Cutting practice on race day takes away a lot of the benefits of one day racing.
