Rules & Tyres
There are some notable differences between this IFMAR event and other competitions you may have attended – do Read the IFMAR Rules and ensure you know what you need to do. In Addition, due to the Spec Class being new we’ve ‘borrowed’ some homologation lists – they are linked below.
The event team will be there to help you, but a little bit of reading before you arrive will help.
However, to start with, check these items: -
Spec Motors are to the EFRA List
https://www.efra.ws/rules-regulations/homologation/?yr=2019ALL
Motors - must be in accordance with the specification submitted when the motor was homologated for IFMAR (Modified) and EFRA (Spec). Destructive testing will be used if required.
Spec Speedo’s are to the BRCA List (NOTE: - Modified is ‘Open’)
https://www.brca.org/rules-documents/18-electric-board/28-blinky-esc-homologation-lists
Checking will take place to ensure compliance with ‘blinky’ mode. Speed controllers found to be non-compliant can be refreshed by the driver using the relevant software. This may be checked at ANY Time – prior or post, race.
Bodies - from the IFMAR list only.
Chassis - will be marked in accordance with IFMAR Rule 3.1.2.
Batteries - from the IFMAR list only. When initially presented for inspection the battery must be compliant with Rule 2.3 of IFMAR Electric Racing Batteries and Motors Rules. In use slight swelling of the battery will be allowed but if considered unsafe it will be removed from the premises.
LiPo battery charging/discharging - all LiPo drive batteries must be charged/discharged in a LiPo sack that is fully closed or the driver will be disqualified from the event.
Tyres
This event uses control Tyres – JFT Pink & Magenta.
12 Sets of Tyres (24 Pairs) are supplied by the organisers to each competitor (at the competitor’s cost), you will be able to pre-order 3, optional, sets for practice (more available at the event) The tyres will be supplied at Registration in one box – You will get the opportunity to inspect and check you are happy with them before You apply scrutineering labels to the rims. They will require truing to your choice of size – an area is provided, and some spare machines will be available.

Getting Here
4. Getting Here
Milton Keynes is situated 70km north of London.
The Venue Postcode is MK9 3EP, the recommended Hotel postcode is MK9 2HQ

Milton Keynes prides itself on having excellent public transport links.
There are Train and Bus links to all the major airports, services normally hourly during the daytime.
We can especially recommend the Bus service from Heathrow Airport to ‘Milton Keynes Central’ (Train/Bus/Taxi hub) if flying into Heathrow we would recommend this option, together with a very short taxi ride this will solve all your transport needs without a hire car.
If you fly into Birmingham or Luton (the other 2 nearest Airports) then the Train is ideal, this will also take you to Milton Keynes Central where you can take a taxi to the track or the venue.
Car hire should be unnecessary for most competitors while at the event.
The hotel we recommend is 800m / 0.5miles from the track, most of which is an indoor walk through the shopping centre.
We are planning to provide a shuttle service from the hotel to the track for luggage/race kit and any less able-bodied visitors.
Full transport details, and link to service providers for all the above will be provided in the Stage 2 report, though you will find them all with a quick ‘Google’
Local Map – use postcode MK9 3AQOn Arrival in Milton Keynes / at the Venue‘Milton Keynes Central’ to the ‘Holiday Inn Central’ is 800m (see map above)The track is 800m from the Hotel. (see map above – Note, most of this walk is indoors)We recommend a ‘virtual’ look round on Google Maps!If you zoom in you can get to a layout of the centre, or a plan of it is available here: -https://www.centremk.com/centre-map
Parking – use postcode MK9 3AQ ButLook at the map for fine details! Park in the central 3 rows of the car park indicated – display permit IT is very important to follow the instructions on the Permit, you must pay for 2 Hours parking per day– you then get the rest Free. The Parking Permit is the last page of this document.
Hotels
5. Hotels
Hotels
The Event Organisers Recommend: -

Central Milton Keynes
500 Saxon Gate, Milton Keynes MK9 2HQ
+44 (0)871 942 9057
reservations@himiltonkeynes.co.uk
Available to Book as of now – quote ‘BRCA’ or ‘IFMAR’ when making your booking.
A short walk, mostly through the shopping centre to this very nice, very reasonably priced, hotel.
This hotel is the one we normally recommend to racers at our events and is also the one used by the organizing team.
It is planned for there to be an event at this hotel on the Wednesday evening, to welcome you all to this race
It is intended that there will be a shuttle service to this hotel for luggage and any less able visitors.
Other nearby hotels include: -
All these hotels, and more, are within easy walking distance of the venue
For more Information the organisers recommend; -
Tripadvisor.co.uk.
Facilities & Nearby
7. Venue Facilities & Nearby things to Do.

As can be seen by the picture on the right the track location is within the shopping area (John Lewis is a large department store chain – their ‘cocktail lounge’ overlooks the track)
As such the venue features all the facilities one would associate with a major shopping centre.
There are excellent toilets and changing facilities a short walk from the pits.
The venue is fully disabled accessible, however please do let the organisers know if you are unable to use steps for the rostrum.
The choice of shopping is huge, from major department stores, though to small specialist retailers, if you want it; - it will be available in this centre somewhere
Nearby, in walking distance, there are numerous other things to do for example: -

MMS
8 The Model Motorsport Show

In addition to the race meeting the BRCA in collaboration with the RC Car Industry bring an exhibition of our sport to the public at the events we hold in this location.
It is hoped that as many manufacturers as possible will take a stand, or work with their UK Importer to do so.
In addition (or instead or combined) there will be the opportunity to have a booth where manufacturers can help their drivers in the event.
It is totally acceptable, in fact we positively encourage you, to sell at this event, to the racers, and/or the public – but please do so by taking one of the stands, if you’re involved in the event they’re free anyway.
Event Marketing
Centre MK, is part of the Intu Group, as one of the largest retail groups in the UK has an internal marketing department and a retained marketing agency and we take full advantage of both to advertise what we and the trade do. This is a superb showcase for our sport and it gives us access to parts of the media that are normally inaccessible to us.
As such we can fully expect a huge crowd of spectators and a significant media presence, from local to national media, newspapers to television, to enhance the spectator experience the BRCA brings it’s ‘have a go’ track to the event to engage directly with potential new racers.
The pre-event publicity for the 2018 event saw the meeting as the fastest trending item in the country on the Friday afternoon, in itself this became a news worthy item.
Public Engagement
9. Public Engagement
The BRCA uses events like this to promote our sport to a wider audience.
We would normally conduct an event for the local schools and colleges on the weekdays of the event, where our public relations team would use our display fleet to run engineering workshops .
These can vary in type depending on the ages of the children.
For the weekend we then change to a ‘Have a Go’ track, where we let the general public try our sport with a fleet of specially built cars.
We would normally expect over a thousand people to be able to try this in an average weekend.

Entry
9. Getting an Entry
- Places are available for either class.
- Please note that you are only able to enter Both classes if the event is not full, so you will need to be clear which class is your 1st choice.
(Be Aware;- the Mod and Spec event is run concurrently, if you try and do both you will be busy – if you get a place, we expect the event to be easily full.)
How to do it: -
- Contact your National Federation.
- Most countries have a system of qualification for a place.
- They will request places from your IFMAR Bloc and let you know if you have qualified for a place.
However
The organisers are aware that in some countries this process may not be available or working, if that is the case: -
Please contact the organisers (see Contacts on the 2nd Page) and let us know that you would like a place and for which class.
We will put you in touch with the relevant IFMAR/Bloc/Country officials (or liaise with IFMAR on your behalf if there simply are none looking after your country) to ensure your application for a place is received.
