With the winter clothing on standby it was time to kick off the 2016 BRCA East of England regional series at a cold but more importantly dry Stotfold, a new venue for the EoE to visit but no stranger to holding big meetings.  The drivers started to arrive bright and early with a cold and damp start to the day but with the forecast good for the rest of the day hopes were high that we could be in for some good racing on what is a well prepared surface.

The 3rd April 2016 saw the return of the ever popular BRCA clubman series for the 1/10th Electric Circuit Section. This year saw round 1 held at the fantastic Eastbourne Electric Car Club, winner of the 2009 BRCA club of the year. And the venue certainly didn't disappoint the 112 drivers booked into the 2 returning Touring Car classes, as well as the newly added F1 class.

The third round of the BRCA National series which was sponsored by Serpent, took place this weekend at the small, tight and technical track of Adur, close to the limit for how small of a track a modern 1/8 scale car can race around, this track provides a unique challenge with heavy braking zones, tight hairpins, and a short straight keep the drivers on their toes!

The second round of the BRCA Circuit Championship took place at the high speed circuit of Mendip R/C Raceway, created in 1977 the circuit was made to challenge the 2WD drive cars of the day, and allow corners to by taken at high speed, this means with a modern 4WD chassis it is very much a power circuit, thus a great engine and big brass sphere's are required to get around the circuit at full speed as the circuit is lined with concrete barriers, making this a circuit to be respected.

The first round of the BRCA 1/8 Circuit Championship took place at the Cotswold Model Car club over the Easter weekend, with the new addition of an electric class to run alongside the nitro powered cars. With one of the highest number of drivers booked in to race within recent years, we were in for a great first round, unfortunately the British weather had other ideas with heavy downpours throughout the weekend.

So this past weekend the season kicked off with round 1 of the BRCA Rallycross series held at Deerdale Off Road. The astro turf surface and unsettled weather was sure to mix things up as the nations best drivers would battle it out over two days looking for a solid start to the campaign.
