About the Club
Kettering Model Car Club started out as an off-road racing club based in Burton Latimer just outside of Kettering. As with most clubs we have evolved over time and nowerdays we mainly race 1/10th scale Touring Cars indoors on a carpet track at the Barton Seagrave Village Hall in Kettering on Friday evenings between 6.45 and 10.00pm. Despite our move to running mainly touring cars we welcome any electric powered model cars, GT12, LMP12, GT10 etc are all very welcome and depending on numbers will either have their own heat or be mixed in with the touring cars. Our club members are a very friendly bunch, many of which have been racing with the club for longer than they'd care to remember. This means there is a wealth of experience and advice on tap every week and they are always happy to help out both new and established racers with anything they need be it set-up advice, driver coaching, spare parts or anything else you can think of. New members are always welcome - Feel free to come along and watch if you want to find out more about our club. We race in the first floor sports hall of the William Knibb Centre. The car park is off Alfred Street through the first set of gates on your left when approaching from Victoria Street. The entrance to the building is through the glass door in the corner of the car park and the sports hall is just up the hallway stairs. There are a few tables available on a first come first served basis so bring a table of you have it just to be safe. There are more than enough chairs for everyone and plug sockets dotted around the hall and corridoor. Racing is on "PermaTrack" carpet laid on woodblock floor covering an area of approximately 12m x 15m, with square section guttering and flexible corner markers used to create the track design. AMBrc handout transponders are used, or you can run a personal transponder to time the races and count your laps, so there's never any arguing about who won.
