Halifax Charity Gala & Halifax Club Open Day

BRCA Articles

Saturday the 8th June saw our first visit to the Halifax Charity Gala. The focus of this event is to raise funds for local charities – something the BRCA was happy to be able to support.

Our stand consisted of our usual display of RC vehicles – representing the different classes of RC racing – along with promotional literature and our ever popular ‘Arrive & Drive’ track – which proved as busy as ever with many visiting members of the public trying their hand at RC racing for the very first time!

As the focus of the show was fund raising, a nominal fee was charged to ‘have a go’ with our ‘Arrive & Drive’ trucks and, despite the horrible weather, we were still able to raise some monies for local charities supported by the Gala’s organisers.

As the Gala was only a one day show, we were able to work with the local Halifax Club (also known as the Yorkshire Radio Controlled Model Car Racing Club – YRCMCRC) and promote their Open Day, which took place on Sunday the 9th June. Winners on our ‘Arrive & Drive’ track were awarded with a voucher inviting them to visit the track on the Sunday where they would have the chance to race on the Club track with a loaned car.

Many of you have already seen the live broadcasts made from both the Gala and the Club but if you missed them then check them out on the BRCA Facebook page.

Thanks to CML who donated our Competition Prize – a Comet 2WD On Road Buggy, which was won by Chris Green, seen here being presented with his prize.

Special thanks go to the organisers of the Halifax Charity Gala for inviting us to get involved; to John and Muriel and the Halifax Club for inviting us to their Open Day; to the 10th IC Section for tolerating us whilst trying to host their National meeting; to Craig and Debbie from the Halifax Club for their help at the Gala and to the BRCA Event Team of Venetia and Mark for their hard work throughout the weekend.Alan Leighton
