Restoration of Scottish Racing - Updated 9th August

RC News

Updates from clubs about their plans for racing this year.

As restrictions relax over the coming months both indoor and outdoor racing will be restarting. Outdoor racing is currently allowed and there are clubs which have already started their outdoor seasons. As we get more updates we will refresh this page. If you want more information or contact details for any of the clubs mentioned here use the club finder via the link at the top of the page.

Glasgow RC Car Club.

We have been busy at Glasgow Raceway! We are so excited that we will soon be hosting our first meeting on astroturf with our hardworking volunteers making the finishing touches this week! Fantastic work!

It's a big track with banked corners, a bomb-hole, jumps, moguls and a HUGE straight 🙂 It's going to be fast and fun! It's an undulating surface with lots of bumps and should be fun and challenging to drive and we hope to see as many of you there as possible.

The club are looking forward to opening the new track on the 8th of August when they host round 3 of the Scottish Inter Club Championship.

Just want to thank anyone who helped helped financially, supported and encouraged us and given us advice and has helped make this a reality. Also a massive thanks to the volunteers who helped with all the graft which included installing drainage for the full site, groundwork, astro laying, cutting and joining.

It's been a mammoth task that's almost complete. We will be so happy when we see people racing and enjoying themselves at the track!

Lothian Radio Control Car Club.

The club is restarting on Friday 6th of August and for the rest of the year will be meeting weekly rather than our usual fortnightly race nights.

Dundee and Angus Radio Car Klub

The club returns to racing on Friday 30th of July and will continue to meet weekly. The club has moved to a new venue at Wellbank Hall, 3a Kellas Rd, Wellbank, Dundee DD5 3PE.

Falkirk Radio Car Club

The Falkirk club has no plans for imminent racing because our venue is closed and currently being used as a testing centre. We are monitoring developments and hope to clarify the position soon.

Leven Model Race Car Club

The club is back racing on a Tuesday night although this swaps to a Thursday on the last week of the month. A classic hot rod formula has been added to the existing F1, F2, saloonstox, ministox, and bangers formulas.

Grampian Radio Car Club

The 2020/21 indoor season at the Betteridge Centre in Newtonhill was heavily impacted by the pandemic and the season was cut short.  However, the intention is to hold a full race program from October 2021 to April 2022 as normal with Mini class, Mini Touring Car class and Touring car class.  Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates.

Stonehaven District Radio Car Club

For the 2021 outdoor season, we intend to hold a full 12 round championship for 1/10th Touring Car, 2wd Mini, and 1/10th 4wd and 2wd Offroad classes. We also hope to offer a mini touring car class if there is enough interest. The first round is planned for 9th of May with the rest of the dates below.

The other big news from SDRCC is the arrival of a truck load (literally) of astroturf, repurposed from the local tennis club.  There is a planning application lodged with the council for their consideration to allow construction of a permanent astro offroad track!  This has been causing quite a buzz lately with a newspaper article, radio interview and television appearance within a busy 3 day spell in mid April - all to promote the clubs efforts to grow!

Keep an eye on the club website and Facebook page for more updates.
