2022 1/10 IC & GT8 BRCA Nationals Round 4 Colchester - Heres what happened

Round 4 was held on the 7th and 8th August at the challenging intense twisty circuit at Colchester.
This summer’s dry hot weather allowed plenty of practice on Saturday . Tyre wear and finding a good set up were both challenging.
Sunday started with a short practice session for those drivers unable to attend on
Saturday, followed by four rounds of qualifying heats.
The final qualifying positions were as follows :
1/10 220mm GT
TQ - Richard K
2nd - Rob Scott
3rd - Jamie Goodall
GT8 Nitro
TQ - Mark Green
2nd - Adam Southgate
3rd - Steve White

1/10 IC 200mm Touring
TQ - Stefan Chodzynski
2nd - Byron Russell
3rd - Nigel Philpott
GT8 Electric
TQ - Alex Thurston
2nd - Michael Chapman
3rd - Glyn Beal

Finals:
B Final 1/10 220mm GT
Pole position Bob Harley dominated from start to finish. Phil Edwards and Jim Beesley both held promising positions before retiring with mechanical issues. Adz took second with local driver Aaron Russell completing the podium.

A Final 1/10 220mm GT
Richard K led off with Rob Scott and Daniel Chilvers in hot pursuit. Daniel drove superbly eventually taking the lead and looking likely to take his first A final win. Unfortunately his rear drive belt started to fail allowing Richard K to take the lead ,and Bailey moving up to second with Daniel losing ground but managing to keep third place for a podium finish just holding off a charging Richard Boult.

A Final GT8 Nitro
TQ Mark Green stormed away in to a comfortable lead until mechanical issues forced him to retire after 83 laps. Adam Southgate and Paul Dewsnap dropped out very early with Mark Boothman also dropping out leaving just Steve White as the only driver to stay on for the full duration. Despite problems Ian Hartill rejoined and reeled in Mark’s position in the final couple of minutes to take second and his first A Final podium.

A Final 200mm Touring
TQ Stefan led the field away with local driver Byron Russell using his knowledge of his home circuit to keep the pressure on. In the end very close with Byron only 3 seconds behind after 120 laps .Nigel Philpott drove a consistent trouble free race to comfortably take third.

A Final GT8 Electric
Alex Thurston won the first leg but a collision meant he finished third in the second leg. Despite a little pressure for once Alex reset to dominate the final leg and maintain his 100% winning record. Glyn Beal took second just ahead of Michael.

Another enjoyable race weekend. Thanks to the Colchester club or producing a successful meeting .The next and penultimate round is at the very fast Brooklands circuit on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th September.
