BRCA 1/10th IC Circuit RC Car Racing

The 1/10th IC Circuit section comprises of two different classes of 1/10th scale nitro powered vehicles; 200mm and Sports GT.  Both classes are supported well at club meeting up and down the country.  Our national series comprises of 8 rounds, with only your best 5 results to count, and runs from March to October.  The series visits circuits as far up the country as Halifax in West Yorkshire and as far south as Weston-super-mare in North Somerset.

Both types of car are powered by 2.1cc engines and run on foam tyres.  However when the circuit is wet, rubber tyres may hold an advantage.  More in depth rules can be found at the top of this page.

Our national meetings are run over two days, with Saturday playing host to open practice for all participants.  Sunday is made up of 4 rounds of 4 minute qualifying heats and finals for all.  Your best time from the heats deciding on which final you will be assigned to with the top 10 times entering the A Final, the next 10 in the B Final and so on.  The finals contain more of an endurance aspect with the A Finals being of 30 minute duration!

Opportunities to represent the country are also available in the form of the annual European Championships and the World Championships which is hosted every other year.

If you are interested in starting in 1/10th IC or GT8 racing then why not pop along to your local club or even one of our national meetings where the racers would be more than happy to advise you.

Sports GT A Final Podium

For the penultimate round of the BRCA 1/10th IC national series, the Adur club situated on the South coast of the county would be the venue. Unfortunately, due to the travel time required, many racers made the decision to not attend the meeting meaning that 23 drivers would compete with 4 drivers attending to race the 1/8th GT support class. The weather for the weekend proved to be cooler on the Saturday practice day with the temperatures rising for the main event.

The final round of the BRCA 1/10th IC National Series took place at Mendip Raceway over the weekend of the 1st and 2nd of October. The Saturday practice day proved to be wet meaning that the majority of drivers would go into the race day with minimal practice time.

Round 6 of the BRCA 1/10th IC Nationals was held on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of July at the Cotswold track situated on Kemble Airfield. Although the sun was out in force on Saturday, Sunday was to be a more overcast affair and a total of 42 drivers took part in the three classes of 1/10th 200mm, 1/10th Sports GT and 1/8th GT.

The second edition British Open GP, sponsored by DH Modelsport and Contact RC Tyres, took place over the weekend of the 27th & 28th of August at the Halifax circuit in West Yorkshire. The event would cater for 1/10th 200mm, 1/10th Sports GT, 1/8th GT, 1/8th IC & 1/8th electric with over 80 entries making it an exciting weekend. The race would take a similar structure to that of the popular ENS series with round by round qualifying and a single sided bump up finals format. Along with the race, a social event was hosted on the Saturday evening along with a raffle with prizes donated by the event sponsors. With the area known among racers as having its own climate, rain would make for challenging conditions throughout qualifying.
