BRCA Rally X Round 4 Report

8th Rally X

Boots wraps up national title at Pembrey...

The weekend of 11th/12th August was round 4 of the BRCA 1/8th Rallycross championships down at Pembrey Race Circuit in South Wales.

Despite a beautiful week before the event, with track in stunning condition Saturday saw the beautiful summer weather turn to grey sky and rain!! The event was started early to try and get as much in before the heavy rain was forecast in the afternoon.

The first round kicked off and Neil Craig took top honours with his Alpha powered AE, the only driver getting in the 8 laps in the difficult conditions. Infinity driver Lee Martin got 2nd just 1.5s ahead of the Kyosho of Elliott Boots in 3rd. The top 5 filled with Graham Alsop and his HB Buggy in 4th and Mike Lewis of AE in 5th!

The weather gradually got worse for the 2nd round but the top drivers were still on point, this time with Elliott Boots taking the TQ in by that point heavy rain. Michael Lewis got a fantastic 2nd and Lee Martin 3rd. Fellow AE driver Lewis Jones got 4th and SWorkz man Jack Embling rounded out the top 5!

The weather then took a turn for the worse and a delay turned into the end of the day, with the third and final round being postponed until Sunday Morning!

A monumental effort by the Swansea team after a waterlogged track got it raceable again just a little later than the usual start time! The third round saw better weather and when the top heats were on a nearly dry track!

This meant quicker times and once again it was the fine looking Kyosho of Elliott Boots that got the quickest time, this time he was the only driver getting in the 8 laps! Once again Infinity man Lee Martin took 2nd place and Neil Craig in 3rd! 4th was the Agama of Darren Bloomfield and once again 5th was Jack Embling!

Then the rain came again, and it didn’t stop!! The meeting was stopped and the result was taken after qualifying. A disappointing end to what could have been a great Sunday of finals due to the Great British Weather!!

So the final standings after the 3 rounds with 2 from the 3 rounds counting towards the end result looked like this.....

Reds/Kyosho driver Elliott Boots taking the win, and that meaning he took the championship win for 2018. With no one able to catch him despite a round remaining at Slough in September! Total domination so far by Elliott in the championship, with a win at every round!

There is still lots to play for at the last round, with the rest of the Top 5 places up for grabs!

The full results can be found at along with the championships standings etc.

We look forward to the last and final round in 4 weeks, and we are hoping for Blue sky’s and sunshine to end the championship on a high!

Once again thanks to all of the Swansea crew for doing literally everything possible to keep the event running as best they could and all the racers for the racing we did see!
