North Midlands GT Regional Summary 2015

1/12th Circuit GT

Well, that’s the North Midlands Regional GT event over, and what an event it was, F1, WGT &GT12 nothing was to be decided until the very last final round at Broxtowe. Drivers appeared all through the three rounds from as far afield as Stockton, Liverpool and even some of those southerners made an appearance, a long days travel for all of them and very welcome.

For the first two rounds, at South Yorkshire Raceway and Swifts Raceway, all of the 6 finals had a different winner, making the permutations as who would win hard to work out. As it transpired if any of the previous winners ran at the final round and won, then they would win the Championship, and so it transpired.

GT12.    Andy Murray had won the earlier round at SYR, and so after taking pole position in the final he drove to a series winning race. It was an eventful final with a lot of drivers having varying degrees of incidents denying them the opportunity of a race win.

F1.  This is getting to be the upcoming class around the region and James Wright again showed his dominance to follow on from his win at the previous round at his home track of Swifts Raceway, to take pole position, the race win, and the championship with a flawless display.  James Greener taking 2nd spot behind him again as he did at Swifts.

WGT. This division was to be dominated all day by veteran Bob Hill, nobody else could get near to his pace. After winning at SYR previously he drove perfectly all through the day taking a comfortable pole, TQ, race win and the championship. Gaz Dearing tried to compete in the beginning but just hadn’t got the pace and had to settle for a comfortable 2nd while watching Mr Hill drive away.

All three rounds were well conscripted with over 100 drivers taking part, at least 30% entering all three rounds. The venues must have a mention, all were exceptional in there capacity for putting on these type of events, and all ran smoothly.

Thanks must go to all the guys behind the scenes for putting events like these on, and last but most important the drivers. Thank you all.
