English Champion wins 1:8th Stock Cars National Round 4

The fourth and penultimate round of the National Series saw 16 drivers make their way to the South coast, where section newbies Adur were hosting their first meeting above club level.
The new English Champion Ben Harding was top qualifier and Adur member Ricky Slater made the most of his home advantage to take the second automatic qualification place. The first semi final produced a great battle between Sam Wearing, Dave Gwilliam and Callum Farren as the three of them swapped places for most of the race before Sam came out on top with Dave in second. Semi final two was an even closer affair, with five drivers finishing on the same lap! Steve Wearing took the win despite ending up on the infield on the last lap, and then celebrated by speeding across the rocky surface firing stone chippings across the track much to everybody’s amusement. Ross Wiffen came second and did well to keep his bodyshell attached to the car. In the final, Ben Harding continued his form by taking the chequered flag after staying ahead of a hard charging Dave Gwilliam. Steve Wearing and Ricky Slater kept out of trouble to take 3rd and 4th, meanwhile Sam Wearing struggled round with a shredded inside rear tyre to come 5th and Ross Wiffen retired at half distance. Thanks to Ricky and the Adur club for a well-run first big meeting, everybody went home having enjoyed their days racing.
