Truggy + E8 Buggy 2019 Round 3 Race Report

Truggy & E8 Buggy

Low turn out, but beautiful weather and a nice day at brookthorpe had by all. The Lewis Brothers dominate the whole meeting in both classes!

The track was fantastic and very well prepared by the Brookthorpe Team, not a peg or piece of astro out of place. How ever 29 drivers the trip to the astro club. We had a simple 3 heats a round, one Truggy and two Electric Buggy. Nice pace throughout the day. roughly 4 minutes between each heat and 15 minutes between each round. Which made the meeting really smooth and relaxed.

The day started off with two rounds of timed practice in heat order followed by three rounds of qualifying. The track was bone dry and very fast. The faster drivers were getting mid 30 second laps. During the day we saw Matt Lewis take the TQ spot in Truggy with Jon Howells come in second place overall, and Mitchell Booth took third place overall. In the E-Buggy class we saw Mike Lewis take TQ with Michell Booth in second overall, Local driver Simon Hamblett took third place overall.

After a 45 minute break between heats and finals. Unfortunately we had a couple of people drop out of finals so we only had two finals to run. Starting with the Truggy A Final, this race ran for 30 minutes and there were some amazing battles throughout the race. First and second was up and gone fro the get go. But third and forth were battling it out until the very end. The top 4 were Matt Lewis who drives for Assocciated, Mitchell Booth who drivers for Tekno, Jon Howells who also drives for Assocciated and finally Wez Jolly a driver for Tekno! Very good driving from all drivers in this race.

After a short break we started the E-Buggy A Final which ran for 15 minutes. Very simular to the truggy race first and second were gone like a shot, but third and forth were battling throuhout the race. However we saw Matts brother Mike Lewis take the win with his Assocciated E-Buggy, Tekno driver Mitchell Booth who we saw in the Truggy final finish in second place. Local driver Gareth Capper finish in third place and a very late entry from team Tekno Dan Austin finish in forth place.
