The BRCA was formed some years ago and the 1/8th rallycross section is an integral part of the association. You will find 1/8th rallycross cars being raced across the country nearly every weekend of the year at BRCA Affiliated clubs
Which you can find elsewhere on the BRCA Website, however since 1983 the rallycross section has run a full season of race meetings from April to September, with 4 championships now in place the National Championship, The Clubman, The Junior and the Over 40s Championships.
All 1/8th rallycross cars are powered by 3.5cc nitro fuel powered engines so you are not only racing your model car against others, but you also get the smell and the noise of full size motor racing. So if that has wetted your appetite for having a go at rallycross, come along to one of the clubs or come to a national event where you can discover more information.
The section prides itself on being friendly and available to answer any questions that you might have.
The 2025 BRCA 1/8th RallyX National Championship kicked off in thrilling fashion at
the Herts Nitro Model Car Club (HNMC). With a full entry list of over 125 drivers, the
first round showcased intense competition setting the tone an season ahead. After
five rounds of intense qualifying, the top three drivers were: TQ Elliott Boots
(Sworkz) followed by Jonathan Skidmore in P2 (Xray) and Will Skidmore (Xray) in
P3.
Main Final
The main final had an interesting start as the last semi final, semi B, was affected by
a heavy rain shower, affecting the overall times. The final started with overall TQ
Elliott Boots (Sworks) starting down in 8th place! During the 40 minute break
between the last semi final and the start of the main final, a heavy rain shower left
the track with puddles, the game was really on for drivers when choosing their tyre
strategy for the full duration of the final.
Jonathan Skidmore (Xray) led the pack away for the first section of the race, closely
followed by Agamas Erik Lykke at his home track starting from P3. Both Skidmore
and Erik battled for the first quarter of the race, with Lewis Jones also battling for the
lead, there was less than 4 seconds separated the top three spots.
During the first half of the main, AE’s Tommy Hall had climbed up to 4th from 11th of
the grid, with heavy competition throughout the duration of the main from 4th to 10th
place.
Sworks Elliott Boots steadily climbed up the ranking order during the first half of the
main, then battling with Jonathan Skidmore (Xray) and Erik Lykke (Agama) for first
place. Erik then passed skid more and began hunting down Elliott. At the 35 minute
mark, fuel stop strategy had brought Boots and Lykke together on track, the crowd at
Herts were cheering for the young Erik as he began making passes for the lead!
Erik did pass Elliott but unfortunately could not make it stick and looked comfortable
for second place overall. A few laps later towards the closing stages of the main, Erik
would suffer from mechanical issues, promoting Jonathan Skidmore to 2nd place
and Lewis Jones (WIRC) to 3rd overall.
