Round 2 of the SORS championship saw us all at the Dumfries Model Car Club track on Sunday 5th May.
The drivers were greeted with a spacious track which looked huge, but turned out to be around the 25 sec/lap range for most of the drivers.
The track started out damp, but soon started to dry as we worked our way through the heats. Good turnout for this one with 8 full heats. As expected the battle for the top two places fell to Allan O'Brien and Daniel Pole, but they were kept honest by David Scott and Euan McLeod who both managed to get right in amongst them during the heats. As the day progressed, it rained again for a short time which was enough to make the track slick again, but it was the same for everybody and didn't affect the qualifying too much.
Allan Managed to TQ both 2WD and 4WD classes and managed the win in 2WD, pacing himself to the line ahead of Daniel and a rapid Martin Inglis. David Scott was 4th and Euan McLeod 5th. 4WD was a different story with Allan starting badly and then struggling with an out of sorts car the rest of the race. He still managed to grab second, but Daniel stroked this one to the line in an impressive display of driving. Euan McLeod was 3rd, Jimmy Hamilton 4th and James Bisset 5th.
2wd.- 2nd Daniel Pole, 1st Allan O'Brien, 3rd Martin Inglis...
4wd - 2nd Allan O'Brien, 1st Daniel Pole, 3rd Euan McLeod...
The whole day ran smoothly with the help from Duncan Pole and Derek Ferguson who controlled the meeting and commentated on every single race!
