British Drivers Shine at the EFRA Large Scale Off-Road European Championships 2026
The 2026 EFRA Large Scale Off-Road European Championships in Starec, Czech, delivered an incredible week of racing, with the British contingent producing some outstanding performances across every class. Facing Europe's very best drivers on a demanding circuit, Team GB showed impressive speed, consistency, and determination throughout the event.
Short Course Truck
The Short Course Truck class saw one of the standout performances of the entire championship from Zach Whittleston. Zach was simply unstoppable in qualifying, taking victory in all four qualifying rounds to secure an emphatic overall TQ, earning pole position for the A Final. He backed that up with another commanding drive to win his Semi Final, looking every bit the favourite heading into the Main final.
Although the Main final didn't quite go Zach's way, he still finished an excellent 9th overall at a European Championship—an achievement to be incredibly proud of.
The European title went to Jake Humphreys, who drove a superb final to become the 2026 EFRA European Champion. Congratulations, Jake!
Another fantastic British performance came from Lycia Chester, who battled hard throughout the week and secured a very respectable 6th place finish in her Quarter Final, gaining invaluable experience at the highest level of European competition.
Other notable British results included:
- Ian Slater – 12th Overall
- David Attiwell – 19th Overall
2WD Buggy
The biggest class of the championship produced fierce competition from start to finish, making every qualifying position and every place in the finals hard-earned.
Oliver Whittleston put together an excellent week of racing, consistently improving throughout the event and securing a place in the prestigious A Final. Oliver eventually finished 10th Overall, an outstanding result against Europe's strongest field.
Also flying the flag for Great Britain were:
- Mark Higgins – 33rd Overall
- Paul Diver – 58th Overall in the largest class of the event.
4WD Buggy
The 4WD Buggy class provided even more reasons for Brit's to celebrate, with two UK drivers making the A Final.
Tayler Letchford delivered a superb performance all week to finish an impressive 5th Overall, while Tommy Chung drove brilliantly to claim 7th Overall.
Just missing out on the A Final was Alfie, who finished a very competitive 12th Overall, followed closely by Karl Norris in 14th Overall.
With five British drivers finishing inside the Top 20, it was another hugely successful class for Team GB and a clear indication of the strength and depth of British large-scale off-road racing.
